Bribie Island
Bribie Island is located in the northwestern area of Moreton Bay. It is a 34km long sand island joined to the mainland via a bridge over the tranquil waters of the Pumicestone Passage.
Just a 45 minute drive from Brisbane, Bribie is a haven for those seeking a "sea change", young families, water sport enthusiasts and nature lovers.
Woorim is Brisbane’s closest patrolled surf beach, the venue for regular surf carnivals and a popular spot for swimmers and board riders.
Fishing is exceptional in the area with Tailor, bream, whiting, mackerel and flathead frequently caught in and around the Island with mud crabs and sand crabs also there for the taking.
Pumicestone National Park is also popular with picnickers and overnight campers at Mission Point, which is located on a beautiful white sandy beach.
Bribie Island has experienced massive real estate growth over the past 4 years with the median house price rising from approximately 32 – 41%. In 2002 the median house price was approximately $230,000. In January 2007 the average median price was between $373,000 and $545,000 depending on the suburb. Luxury unit development is flourishing and prestige canal front homes dominate the Banksia Beach area.
